Wicomico Co. Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death of one of its deputies in Pittsville.According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, deputy first class Glenn Hilliard was gunned down, while attempting to arrest a fugitive who was wanted on multiple felony warrants . On Sunday night, Hilliard saw the suspect leaving an apartment complex and began to chase him on foot. The deputy was fatally shot while chasing the suspect. After an extensive manhunt the suspect was captured and is awaiting arraignment. The Facebook page went on to add: “The days ahead will be challenging, but for now, we are mourning the loss of an incredible human being. Deputy Glenn Hilliard was a son , a husband and a father to three beautiful children, a brother to those he worked with, and an exemplary public servant to the citizens of Wicomico County and to the State of Maryland.Our hearts and prayers go out to Glenn’s family during this difficult time .”On Sunday, Baltimore County police tweeted that their, “thoughts and prayers are with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department after one of their fellow deputies was shot.”Police said they took Austin Davidson in for questioning in connection with the shooting. Police did not release further details about the shooting. This report will be updated.
