PS4 Versions Only for Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable

Representing another twist in the tale of this week’s personas saga, it turns out the upcoming releases of Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will actually only be PS4 versions. A statement issued by SEGA and Atlus said the two titles “will also be heading to Steam and PlayStation 5”, but the official website for the re-releases sports just a PS4 icon. Persona 5 Royal is also listed on the page and it does have a PS5 logo, meaning there is a clear difference to take note of.

An added layer of confusion, however, can be sourced from the fact both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S are listed alongside PS4 and PC. If Atlus is going the extra mile with a native port for Microsoft’s current-gen platform, what’s happened to the PS5 version? All we know for now — based on this latest graphic at least — is that Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable are only coming to PS4. Re-join us next week when a PS3 version is somehow announced.

Elsewhere on the site, it’s confirmed the two titles will only be getting digital releases on the PS Store. “DL version only,” it reads, meaning physical buyers are out of luck. Of course, it’s not like the two re-releases were going to take advantage of all the bells and whistles of the PS5, but it does at least confirm the DualSense controller won’t receive any support, and they won’t be using the SSD natively.
